We’ve always believed that great design shouldn’t come at the cost of the planet. That’s why we’re proud to say: all of the black vinyl cord we use in our furniture is made from upcycled material.
Here’s how it works.
When we fabricate our chairs and benches, we trim and cut a lot of vinyl cord to get the perfect fit. Most companies would toss those scraps. We don’t. Instead, we collect every offcut, every leftover strand, and re-extrude it into fresh black cord. That’s not just “recycling” in theory—it’s actually giving waste a second life, right here in our shop.
And it doesn’t stop at the cord.
The steel frames that support our pieces? They’re made with steel that contains a significant percentage of recycled content. Our plastic resin—the core material used to make the vinyl cord—is locally sourced. That means lower emissions from transportation, better supply transparency, and more support for North American manufacturing.
Put all that together and you’ve got a piece of furniture that’s not just durable and beautiful—it’s also part of a circular system.
That’s pretty rare. Most outdoor furniture out there is still made from virgin plastic, shipped halfway across the world, and built without a second thought for where the materials come from—or where they’ll end up.
But a black-corded chair from Innit Designs? That’s different.
It’s built to last. Built responsibly. Built from something that was once waste—and now, something better.
So the next time you sink into one of our black chairs, know this: you’re not just sitting on good design. You’re sitting on a story of thoughtful reuse, smart sourcing, and a commitment to do better with what we have.
And to us, that’s what design should be.
